The Logical Mind, Running Guard Role in Healing

In the great practice in which each manual therapy is combined with the kind of massage therapy, it is interesting to note how the logical mind often interferes with healing. The most common feeling these days is the axiom: "Where your mind goes, the body follows". Or “the way you think”. Essentially, the wisdom that has been passed down through the centuries is in the importance of the mind and how you focus on its ability to aid in the healing process.

If you think, coming through the door of an “alternative” therapist, that “this shit couldn't work” I don't think it will work at the level needed to speed up the healing process. You didn't have to bury your head in the 13th-century sand to hear about the placebo effect! The mind can be a dangerous thing. When was the last time a student learned the importance of using words to encourage healing and correct a client if their story revolved too much around their condition, like an old friend whose friend had given them a story to share about their trip?

 

Air conditioning plays a huge role in how we view the healing process. I know of a client whose pain arose in the attached part of the rectum and caused constant pain that did not respond to pharmaceuticals or conventional physiotherapy.
